While Merchant RMS supports stand alone bank authorization systems, Merchant CMS takes debit and credit processing to a new level.  With the fully integrated card swipe and receipt printing capability, transactions can be processed quickly and be error free.  No longer do you need to fumble with a second machine and waste precious time, while your customer (and the others in line) wait impatiently.

 

Once the bank authorization system responds, your cashier is prompted with a visual response should there be an issue with the card itself.  Messages clearly inform the cashier as to the problem (credit denied, capture card, etc.), and how to respond.  In the rare event, that your bank authorization system is down, or if the card is not readable, the card information can be input manually.

 

Merchant CMS is normally set up to dial out through a standard modem.  This is the same modem that would be used for support purposes or for polling in a multi store environment.  In high volume stores, a dedicated telephone line can be used instead.  If Merchant VPN is installed, then retailers can obtain the fast response time of a dedicated line over a secure Internet connection.

 

Many configuration options are available to provide you with the system you require.  In a location with only a single register and no back office, a single user license is used.  In an environment with multiple registers, the network version allows for one computer to be used as the gateway to the authorizing system, while each register communicates with this gateway system.  In really demanding environments, a concurrent license is available which allows multiple authorizations to occur simultaneously.

 

In locations where an encrypted pin pad is required for debit transactions, it can be attached to the POS and Merchant CMS handles all required communications with this device.

 

Merchant CMS virtually eliminates all errors that can occur when using a separate system. Transposition errors (the POS has $65.00 and the bank machine has $56.00) can no longer happen because there is no manual input.  Card errors (Visa on the POS and Master Card on the bank machine) also become a thing of the past.  This ensures that when it comes time to balance, the process runs quickly and smoothly.
