Merchant
Applications Inc. was established in 1986 to develop, market,
and support, Retail Management Systems for specialty retailers.
Working on Unix systems, Merchant Applications developed
a sophisticated product for use by multi store retailers.
This product is used around the world today by such
companies as South Western Bell in the US, Philips in Canada,
and Scottish Hydro Electric, in Scotland.
In
1994, realizing the growing popularity of Microsoft Windows,
Merchant Applications embarked upon the development of a new
Retail Management System utilizing Visual Basic, SQL Server, and
Microsoft Access. The
many years spent developing the Unix product had provided
Merchant Applications with a wealth of knowledge in the design
and implementation of distributed retail systems.
Today, this experience has enabled us to be at the
leading edge of technology for Windows retail software.
In 1995, the Unix product was sold, allowing Merchant
Applications to concentrate its full energies on further
developing and enhancing the Windows product.
At
present there are over 200 customers using our software in
Canada, United States and in the Caribbean. This represents
approximately 2,500 machines running Merchant RMS.
Our customers cover a broad range of retail categories
including fashion, sporting goods, jewelery and hard goods.
The design of our product virtually guarantees a glove
like fit for any retailer, no matter what product lines they
merchandise.
Merchant
Application’s suite of products, provide a robust and
sophisticated environment for the specialty retailer.
Future enhancements will only add to the many benefits that
these products provide. Depth of knowledge and commitment
to excellence, have allowed Merchant Applications to be at the
